Johnston has been sidelined since the Scottish Cup semi-final clash against The Rangers, and the absence of the Canadian has had a detrimental impact on Celtic’s defensive stability. The team has suffered a leaky defense, conceding an alarming nine goals in just four games, an unprecedented record for the club.

Speaking to Celtic TV, Ange Postecoglou said:

“He’s good to go, so he’ll play tomorrow. Hopefully he gets through that and in terms of the cup final we’ll wait and see.”

On the flip side, Ange Postecoglou confirmed that Aaron Mooy is a doubt for the cup final.

“AAron Mooy is still struggling with his back complaint. He’ll miss out and is probably a doubt for the cup final.”

With Carter-Vickers also unavailable due to surgery, the return of Johnston is eagerly anticipated to help restore solidity to the backline. The constant shuffling of defensive partnerships, including the unusual pairing of Tomoki Iwata alongside Carl Starfelt, has underscored the need for Johnston’s presence.

Tony Ralston filled in at right-back in Johnston’s absence, but it is evident that Celtic fans believe additional cover in that position will be crucial, prompting thoughts of securing a backup right-back during the upcoming transfer window.

Johnston’s timely return comes as Celtic gears up for the Scottish Cup final in just one week’s time, presenting an opportunity for the team to secure the treble. The right-back’s inclusion will undoubtedly provide a boost to the squad as they strive for this historic achievement.

Johnston’s availability brings a much-needed ray of hope to Celtic’s defensive woes and raises optimism ahead of the important upcoming matches. The manager’s faith in his return underscores the significance of his contribution and the anticipation surrounding his impact on the team’s fortunes.
