CALLUM MCGREGOR has been the Celtic captain for a year after many wondered if he would be able to fill the Scott Brown shaped hole in the squad when the Hoops legend moved on to Aberdeen.

What we got was a man who had certainly grown and watched Broony for years on the pitch and in the dressing room.

Callum brought a new squad together and made them fight for the jersey and for a title they would ultimately win. McGregor’s passion and dedication rubbing off on the new bhoys and being a real driving force behind our resurgence.

It seems almost silly looking back and questioning the Celtic captain.

Callum isn’t the Scotland captain although many think he should be, however, during the Armenia game this week – we got a glimpse of the Hoops hero and the influence Brown had had on him.

Vagelis Gerorgariou regularly provides great snaps for CeltsAreHere.com and he felt compelled to share this brilliant photo of Callum laughing in the face of his opponent after a fouls, something Scott Brown was renowned for during his time at Celtic.

Callum will admit himself he’s grown as a player and a person in the last 24 months. The agony of the lockdown season followed by captaining the team in the double season has taken Callum to a new level of leader.

A great footballer who has dedicated his career to Celtic football club, long may his influence continue.
