Reports in Russia claim Celtic has been scouting Iranian star Sardar Azmoun as it emerged that the player is looking to move on this summer.

However, the striker is adamant that should he move on it would ONLY be for first team football and wouldn’t consider leaving Rostov to be a bit part player elsewhere.

Speaking in January after Liverpool made a bid for his services the young striker was straight to the point.

“I did not feel the time to move was right. I would have ended up playing a few games for Liverpool, and then spending a great deal of time on the bench.

“I want to go to a big club and to develop as a player, but I need to be serious about choosing the right moment to go.

“I am sure I will move to a top European club in the future.”

Celtic will spend the whole summer having to fend off interest in their main striker but if the club are serious about their interest then the only way they could procure Sardar’s services is if Dembele was to move on. Which NO Celtic fan would be happy about.

The Iranian is highly regarded among European football scouts and would be a great signing for any club vying for his signature.
