Normal service resumed very quickly after Kilmarnock stunned Celtic with a strike out of nothing. The strike by Souleymane Coulibaly caught everyone off guard, especially the under fire Celtic newbie Dorus De Vries who seen it shoot over him into the back of the net.

This prompted an absolutely fantastic reaction from the Celtic team who had already dominated the early part of the play.

Kilmarnock the lead all of three minuted before Moussa Dembele stepped up to the plate and sent Celtic on their way to a comfortable victory. Six goals by a team whose attacking prowess cannot be questioned.

It was almost as if the team had collectively decided to punish Kilmarnock for scoring against them in the first place and showed no mercy the rest of the game as they scored goal after goal.

The only talking point of the day was AGAIN the goalkeeping situation. I don’t think there is any Celtic fan fully confident in De Vries’ abilities between the sticks. Similarly, you would find very few fight Gordon’s corner implicitly. After conceding that goal, Dorus was hooked at half time for Craig. The manager sighted an injury to his new goalkeeper as the reason for the switch but this looked like a message to the squad.

If you aren’t up to the task on any given day, you will be hooked. Something that will inspire some players like James Forrest, where others might crumble under that sort of pressure.

The game was a good warm up for Manchester City, although the shakiest part of our team wasn’t tested to the point you’re confident they can deal with the Manchester City onslaught with Aguero and co bearing down on them.

After yesterday’s game I think Craig Gordon will get the nod for Wednesday against the English Premier League side and that’s the biggest take away from our rout of Kilmarnock.

Other positives include Kieran Tierney’s growing prominence in the side, he now has 4 assists for the season and is great dealing with the defensive side of the game. Will Brendan stick with Simunovic or will Kolo come back into the side, or perhaps both in a back three.

We need strong hearts and minds on Wednesday night. I still think Man City will be strong but the emphasis should be on gaining vital more experience and doing our best to deal with the quality this side has.

  1. Do you still think Celtic won’ t cruise to a win at Hampden?Even a poorly performing Aberdeen team can beat them !! Just tell our coaching staff that our goalkeeper is allowed to come out and catch the ball at corners and free kicks and get them to work on this for hours.Honestly,no wonder our defence panics when they see our keeper rooted to the goal line !! Still say two or three nil in semi.

  2. Your spot on rob, our keepers must rule the box. No messing ! As for the up coming fixture against that championship side, I made a few pounds on the last game betting Celtic -3 goals, its gonna be a Christmas come early, same again only won’t have to wait as long. HAIL HAIL
