After a failed attempt to get the player on-loan in January reports suggest Celtic and more importantly Brendan Rodgers haven’t given up hope of landing former Barca boy Bojan.

The Spaniard, who spent the second half of last season on-loan to German side Mainz has had a torrid time at Stoke, a lot of it due to injury and not being able to build up any sort of steam.

Rodgers has spoken about the desire to add real quality to his side and Bojan would certainly fit that bill. Although the player has struggled in recent seasons, his talent is undeniable and after seeing the transformation of some Celtic players last term, you wouldn’t bet against Rodgers getting the best out of him.

Sources in Stoke says it still remains a long shot with the player happy to stay and see out his contract – providing the manager still wants him there. However, any move would cost a fairly large outlay for any club and Celtic are likely to be met with a massive wage demand should they even get to talk to the player.

Bojan himself spoke about getting back to Stoke after his loan period in Germany and is waiting to see what this summer brings.

“I have a contract in a club where the fans show me a lot of love and I’m relaxed about my future. I will talk to the club and see what they have to say.”

A loan deal would seemingly be the only realistic way the Stoke City frontman would end up at Celtic Park.
