Derry City boss Peter Hutton has said the ball is now in Celtic’s court with regards to signing Michael Duffy.

The player has been on two trials with Celtic recently and really impressed on the second visit when he put two goals past Tim Krul in a bounce game with Newcastle.

The Derry City manager believes Michael has great potential and they’re now waiting to see if Celtic are ready to firm up their interest.

“He raised quite a few eyebrows during the match against Newcastle having netted twice in the 3-1 win.

“”Michael can do no more. Having left a good impression on his first visit when he trained with members of the first team squad”

“However, it’s now down to the powers that be at Celtic if they want to sign him,” added Hutton.

Ronny Deila is determined to add to his squad in January and Michael is someone he is interested in. Coming over from Derry City the fee for the Northern Irish u21 would not be substantial and neither would his wages.

We will have to wait and see how this one develops.
