CELTIC and Republic of Ireland forward Anthony Stokes looks to be in demand down south after it was reported this weekend that Sheffield Wednesday have entered the race for his services.

Stokes who has played wide for most of Ronny Deila’s reign so far will find first team football more hard to come by this season with Armstrong, GMS and Forrest all ahead of him for that position while Leigh Griffiths and Ciftci seem to be Ronny’s preferred options up-front.

Earlier in the window it was reported that Leeds utd were looking at brining the player in but now Sheffield Wednesday have entered the fray and could promise the striker regular first team football.

The Owls are keeping a close eye on the situation at Celtic Park and could soon launch a bid for the 27-year old. Several other Championship sides are also believed to be interested in Stokes but it’s the Hillsborough side who lead the race for him at this moment in time.

Stokes has made close to 150 appearances for Celtic during his time at the club, scoring 76 goals. Last season, he featured 39 times, scoring on 8 occasions.
