With Celtic dispensing of Rennes this afternoon 2-0 with goals from Leigh Griffith’s and Gary MacKay Steven our attention quickly turns to Wednesday nights game against FK Quarabag.

The biggest question heading in to Wednesday night has to be what striker Ronny will start with in this crucial qualifier.

Today Leigh Griffiths got on the score-sheet again to add to his pre-season tally. The new number 9 looks to be sharp and even scored a hat-trick last week against Eibar. However that wasn’t enough for Leigh to get a starting place against FC Stjarnan in Iceland. The Celtic manager chose to play nadir Ciftci from the start like he did in the first leg.

While Nadir will need more game time to get up and running at Celtic can Ronny ignore Leigh’s form for much longer?

We believe he has done enough in pre-season to be more than deserving of a start against our oppononts from Azerbaijan.

Ciftci is yet to find the net but has proved a handful pulling defenders out of position and contributing to the attacking play with great effect. However Leigh seems to have his scoring boots at the ready and at this early stage it would be more than wise to start with the Scot up-front.

With Ciftci banned from domestic action this may see him get the nod in front of Grifftihs again with the season opener next Saturday when Leigh will be a shoo-in to start. Ronny Deila should not allow the suspension to become part of his thinking and instead pick the strongest team that he can on the night.

Ronny likes to keep us all guessing and we will look on with interest on Wednesday evening for the team sheet to come out.
