Nir Bitton left the club in the summer after ten years in Glasgow. In the Israeli’s final season with Celtic, he became a big brother to current Hoops star Liel Abada.

The pair were regularly seen on social media hanging about with each other and Liel over at Nir’s homilies during the season.

It was brilliant to see. Liel was making a move out of his home country, as a young lad, to have that support system would’ve been comforting.

Liel has settled well into the club, and even though Nir is now gone, he’ll be watching and talking to the Celtic winger from afar.

When Liel posted an image up on his social media from Sunday, from the victory against Aberdeen — Nir was straight into Liel’s comments calling him a tidy ‘little star’.

The importance of Nir’s influence on Abada during last season can’t be underestimated. The Celtic winger was a massive part of how the Hoops managed to wrestle their title back at the first time of asking.

We can’t wait to see what the young Israeli can do this season.
