CELTIC has recently been linked with a move for John McGinn. While this raised a few eyebrows, at the age of 22 he’s the type of player Brendan Rodgers could build for the future with. Having so much game time and experience at his age is invaluable and the Championship player of the year could prove a shrewd addition.

Hibernian boss Neil Lennon has made it clear he’s unwilling to sell one of his stars but admits it would be hard to stand in the McGinn’s way should Celtic come calling.

“He is a brilliant player,” Lennon reiterated. “He’s only 22 and he has done a lot in his career already. Obviously, I would be very unwilling to sell, but sometimes you cannot stand in the way of progress.

“If Celtic do or if anyone else comes in with a bid then it is obviously something we have to think about.”

Time will tell if Celtic are ready to firm up their interest in the midfielder.
