So apparently Celtic and a team currently plying their trade in the third tier of Scottish Football are after a Manchester Utd reject.

Yes, if you were silly enough to part with your cash this morning for a random red top you would have read Celtic are interested in the services of Federico Macheda who will be out of contract this summer.

But we must act quick because a club that took a crisis loan out a month ago is hot on our heels to try and steal him from under our nose.

Give. Me. A. Break.

Celtic are regularly used by agents to tout their players about Europe. We even have a quote from his agent to tell us how much we and other teams are interested in him.

“There is some interest from Italy but Federico would prefer to stay and extend his career abroad. There are still opportunities in England but there is determination from Rangers and especially Celtic.” said Macheda’s agent.

Now I’m not saying Celtic aren’t interested in the player, I’ve seen the lad play and he is a good player. The chances that he will end up at Celtic are slim though but the very notion that the player will be playing Scottish Championship football next season is laughable.

Another attempt to put Celtic on the same platform as a team from Govan and an attempt by an agent to drum up business for his client.

Papers really will print anything.

Federico is currently on loan at Birmingham and has spent time at QPR, Stuttgart and Doncaster Rovers.
