Charlie Mulgrew will return to full training this morning and reckons he will be available for selection against Ross County, but does he have a fight on his hands claiming a spot back in the first 11.

Nir Bitton didn’t get off to the best of starts with Celtic and at one point it looked like he’d struggle to get into the team. The 23 year olds itchy twitter fingers didn’t exactly get the fans on side either. A red card against Ajax in the Champions League added further argument if he was ever going to crack into the Celtic fist eleven.

Of late Bitton has enjoyed a run of games in the first team and has impressed alongside skipper Scott Brown. At 6 foot 5″ he is a physical presence that can’t be ignored. His style is more based around doing the simple things and doing them well, he has a good engine on him and can get box to box with ease.

If it’s a midfield role Mulgrew is looking to fill again he has a fight on his hands. Mulgrew is one of Celtic’s most versatile players and he has played in almost every position but Delia seems to prefer Van Dijk and Denayer as his to main centre backs which again leaves Charlie knocking on the door.

Selection problems however have always been seen as a good thing and competition for places will do the management and starting XI no harm.
