STUART ARMSTRONG could be on course to sign a new deal with Celtic after reportedly telling his advisors to play ball with the club.

Brendan Rodgers has been critical of the player’s reps since the summer for not being more forthcoming in negotiations but was always adamant Stuart wanted to stay at the club.

Talks this afternoon between the club and Armstong’s agent have reportedly gone ‘very well’. The two parties will get together again over the next 48-hours to hopefully thrash out a deal that will see Stuart stay at the club.

The midfielder is in the last year of his contract and it would be unthinkable to Celtic to let him leave for nothing next summer. That’s why if a deal were to look unlikely before the window closes, Celtic would have no choice but to move the player on.

The news today that a new deal could just be around the corner will be a welcome boost before the club’s massive playoff tie tonight.

  1. Let’s hope it’s concluded for all parties and Stuart can settle down and start showing the form of last season and the club reaps the benefits

  2. if he wants to stay then sign a new contract If he doesn’t then ship him out to languish in some English Premier backwater but insert a 30% sell on clause because he’ll go in a couple of years for £20 million the way prices are spiralling down there
Then again maybe he should look at some of the others who have left Celtic for greener pastures and have disappeared into oblivion
The boy has the opportunity to cement his place as a first team regular play CL football be part of a club who are breaking records every week play in front of 60000 fans every other week and pick up a salary every week that it would take many of us a year or more to earn
Personally I like the player but it’s time for him to get his future sorted out or move on
