Kristoffer Ajer who scored for his country on Monday during their rout of Kosovo will see his goal and the teams win stricken from the record after it emerged he was suspended for the fixture.

According to the Norwegian Football Federation due to Ajer’s bookings in a previous U19 tournament he was to serve a ban at international level and was not eligible to take to the field on Monday night.

The player himself did ask if his under 19 exploits would block him from making the U21 side and he was told there was no danger of this by Norwegian officials.

The team are likely to be stripped of their three points they won against Kosovo which will be disheartening after winning the game 5-0.

Celtic fans will no more than most about ineligible players and how seriously this is treated when a paper work error actually worked in the club’s favour a few years back when Legia Warsaw fielded an ineligible player against Celtic in the Champions league qualifiers.

The Norwegian under 21s must now pick themselves up and get on with things.
