As we reported back in February this year, Patrick Roberts Celtic career could end prematurely and without the opportunity to win a Scottish cup medal.

The Man City loanee was pivotal in Celtic getting to the Scottish cup final on Sunday but the reality is he could be a long way from Hampden come 27th May.

The midfielder is part of the the English under 20 squad who are penciled in to fly out to South Korea in May ahead of their World cup opener against Argentina on May 20th.

This would mean Paddy would also miss the trophy presentation at Celtic Park.

Celtic have contacted the English FA in a bid to keep Patrick until after the Scottish cup final but it remains to be seen if their wish will be granted. It all depends on the English Under 20 boss Paul Simpson’s plans for the skilful winger.

The player himself is keeping his cards close to his chest when asked what he would rather do.

“It is a privilege for me to play for my country and to play for Celtic so it is someone else who has to make the call,” said Roberts

Celtic will find out soon if they will have Roberts or not. With Forrest a preferred starter most of the time it shouldn’t hinder Celtic’s plans too much but it would be a shame if the player could potentially miss out on another medal in the Hoops after being pivotal in getting there.
