BRENDAN RODGERS faced the press today in a pre-match conference before Celtic take on Astana tomorrow night.

During the presser, a visiting journalist that we have a sneaky suspicion comes from Kazakhstan asked a very ambiguous question – BBC reporter Chris Mclaughlin filled everyone in on social media.

We hope so too Brendan!

  1. This Roberts saga is draging out to long. And it’s that dumb ass PG whose playing a big part with the young BHOYS head , how much longer can he / PG /get away with it.hail hail.

    • Tbf a think the problem is that man city can get 20-25 lol for him from a engish prem club in today’s market we don’t have to pay that profit and finacial fair play will n a problem for them tbh I think PG is wanting rid of him bit want the crazy epl market price

  2. Roberts is a MC player and they have the right to sell him for what they want. We have the same option with Armstrong. MC are holding out for the best deal for them…..Celtic’s interests are irrelevant to them.

On Pep, IMHO, his skills are on the wane. The MC job is totally different from Barca and B. Munich. These teams were at the top whereas MC needed a re-build. Is he capable of that….we shall see this season.

  3. He is not coming to Celtic and it has nothing to do with PG it is PL! Celtic have the money to buy Roberts but the mentality has not changed in 100 years, they want something for nothing. they want a talented 21 year old until he is almost 24 having had him got 2 years already. As a point of principle City will not allow him to go. he will end up at an EPL struggler or a foreign club. And we will need to cross our fingers for CL qualification. It is the same every year. Hope we qualify and earn 30 million, why bother they never spend it, rather than properly invest, like a big club, to better the chance of qualification. We are being told on another forelock tugging Celtic site that money will be spent but not in time for the qualifier. Well what is the point. The Celtic team of 1993/94 could win this league. The only games that matter are the qualifiers. But our support are so mired in beating them they will accept any lies and garbage from the board and Rodgers who has repeatedly lied to the support as well. And we are being strung along about Roberts. It was obvious what route the Tory scum boards were taking when Hayes was signed. Small club mentality will amke Celtic a small club, if we are not there already. Celtic have taken in 40 million from Southampton alone in recent years, last 32 of the EL and qualification last year for the CL. Not to mention approx. 20,000 extra season books sold since they reappeared and Rodgers signed. Where has there been any significant investment? Ntcham is the most expensive player signed since Scott Brown 10 years ago. How many players of over 2 million quid have Celtic signed in the past 5 years? CL club? Aye right. Pathetic.

    • John,
You are partially correct, or, I should say I agree with some of what you say! I think Celtic are prepared to spend a reasonable amount on a single player. They have moved from three in at 1.2 million each to 4 million for one player. BR will not tolerate being inhibited by the transfer spend, but he knows we cannot spend at the EPL rate.
Where I agree with you is that the spend should take place for the qualifiers, especially the Play-off round.

However, perhaps BR has to wait until late in the window to get the quality that he wants at the price he can afford, especially if he shops in the English market.

  4. Big dreams on a low budget yet again. Stop messing around celtic, we have the money now start spending it. This waiting to see what happens over the next two games is nonsense. I hope it doesn’t come back to bite us in the arse. Hail Hail

  5. You can’t just go and spend £10m plus on players as they come with £50 000 plus per week wage packets, and if you pay that yo a “new player” then the players who have served the club over the past few seasons all of a sudden have there nose put out as they’ve went from top earners to earning half as much as the new guys. I hear what you bhoys are saying but it’s a tightrope and you gotta be careful! There’s a lot of overpaid dross out there ( especially in England) and I for one would prefer to have a squad of decent players playing for the shirt than a team of overpaid overhyped prima donnas who would jump ship at the first sign of trouble.

  6. Roberts is not coming sick of this celtic have the money, but just the same old shite man up and make MC an offer!!!! Pay the money!!!!!!?

  7. I get what yous are all saying. But every year we get to the group stages i end up coming away and saying “Well at least the club makes 30 million pound” plus the only real excitement is players leaving for big fees. So in a nutshell we need to go out and spend 20 million surely that wouldn’t cribble the club now surely. We survive every other year we dont get to the groups. So bring back the martin onieil days when that has been the 1 and only year a right few quid has been spent surely when your running a club that’s playing champion’s League football. You can afford to say every 10 year we can spend 20 million on 3 or 4 big signing. It keeps the team healthy. Nows the time to do it with the current manager we’ve got and if there’s any real desire to win 10 in a row. Nows the time too do it. The board is good at how it runs this club. But come on you have to have the desire to have some balls and take chances that can surely pay off and get us as far away from the monkeys as possible. Let’s make them the laughing stock for 10 years even 12 or 14! For the years the robbed us of titles with shear criminality! HH!

  8. And if you run a business without taking gambles then you dont know how to run a business. Simple as that. As they say ” Gambles pay off. Us as the supporters dererve our club to take a gamble when were paying roughly £30 quid a game to watch us beating clubs way no far advantage. Come on we all know it it’s bloody getting boring. Gone are the days when the voice of the fans was heard. In the sack the board year. They listened then let’s make that noise again and get some clarification for the money we put into the club. Every manager goes on about i couldn’t have did it without the fans. There made to say that to make us feel appreciated and buy season books.

  9. Sorry guy’s I’m going right off on 1 here. But tell me 1 fan that doesn’t think a club this big making the money it is should be able to go out and spend 20 million every 5 year’s in 1 season. Let’s be frank waiting for that 5 year mark to come around would be more exciting than what’s on offer. Crap braging rights across the city. That’s me im done.

  10. How much per year does it cost to run Celtic? Wages for all employees, the running of Lennoxtown & Barrowfield, insurances etc will be astronomical. I don’t think we have that much leeway on cash and why CL monies is so important. We need to know the exact figures to see where the money goes. I know for a fact that it costs Celtic to play in the bet fred cup for example as the prize fund does not cover the wages for the day should they win the final.

  11. Usual Keek from the Board.Roberts negotiations are Ongoing!!!!!LOLOLOL!!!What Ever…..Themoney thats coming into Paradise and we havent really splurged on players.TYPICAL!!!!!HH and Fck the Board.
