BRENDAN RODGERS is a man that continues to impress the more he talks about the game and how he approaches the plethora of modern-day misgivings.

With so much money and bright lights around, you could forgive a young player who was misled and believed his own hype, such is the nature of the beast.

Well, Brendan Rodgers does not want to see that from his young stars and gave us an insight into how he deals with hot prospects when he takes them under his wing at Lennoxtown.

Speaking to the Evening times the Irishman was straight to the point.

“I say to the young players here, it’s very easy to walk around with the Louis Vuitton soap bag. When you walk out of here, don’t tell people you play for Celtic. No, you are training with Celtic.

“You are playing for Celtic when you are in the first team.

“Lots of young players these days look good, they smell nice, but they don’t put the work in. They don’t play. It’s about working to play for the first team.

“Thankfully with Tony (Ralston) and the likes, he’s not that type. With young players, one, they have to earn it and, two, you don’t go overboard with them because they have played a couple of good games.

“Stay calm. See how consistent and professional they are, and if they are doing well they will always get rewarded. Let them get some games in their legs and let them go from there.”

  1. Its a breath of fresh air and a privilege to listen to someone like Brendan Rodgers ideas, views and opinions on Celtic and in football in general. We are lucky to have him and I hope he stays at The club for a very long time.

  2. Every word Brendan Rodgers says is so precise and accurate to the whole ideas of how football should be played. A remarkable human being. If he wasn’t a football manager I’m sure he would be a brain surgeon. Never leaves a stone unturned on football matters.
