According to the Irish Independent this afternoon, Roy Keane has turned down an approach from Celtic on becoming their next manager.
It was widely expected that the Irishman would sign on with Celtic after informal talks with shareholder Dermott Desmond. But it seems he is staying with former Celtic boss Martin O’Neill in the Ireland set-up.
Sources inside Celtic Park have said that Roy was never formally offered the job but asked to be removed from consideration.
Steve Clarke, Malky McKay and Owen Coyle are still in the mix but Celtic seem no further forward than they were last week.
