With every hour, minute and even second that passes the Celtic support get that little more irritated that the club has still not sufficiently replaced high profile outgoings this summer.

Celtic will play for their Champions League place on Tuesday yet there seems to be very little movement on the transfer front.

The news at the start of the week that Celtic were in for Alfred Finnbogason gave the support renewed hope that the Celtic board had their finger on the pulse. Unfortunately this seems to have fallen by the wayside after a fee in excess of £5million was put on the players head.

There were also reports this morning we’ve had a bid rejected for another striker Teemu Pukki. These are un-confirmed reports though.

Some Celtic fans believe we should push the boat out to get the prolific striker we need to replace Gary Hooper; others think we should be prudent and not pay over the odds in our search for a new hero. One thing all Celtic fans can agree on though is that we need a striker, and we need one NOW!

Even the most patient of supporters like me is getting increasingly restless with Celtic’s inability to go get a deal done. Of course we should not panic buy and end up with a Bangura or Miku. But it’s vitally important that we get the right man in a.s.a.p.

As restless as I’m sounding here, I do appreciate that Celtic has already made acquisitions this transfer window. They have brought in players who may have a big part to play in Celtic’s future. Once Amido Balde properly settles into life in Glasgow I’m confident the bhoy can challenge for a starting place. However for the here and the now we need positive reinforcements.

I’m confident we will get them it’s just a matter of when.

Peter Lawwell once stated that we always strive to come out of the transfer window stronger than we went in. These words will be under the microscope more than ever in the coming days.

It’s time to put your money where your mouth is Peter.

If all else fails, stick this on Gumtree…..
