You’ve got to love Celtic fans!
No sooner had we qualified, for the Champions League Celtic fans were speculating about the draw, and there was one recurring theme; Please, not Barcelona, again!
Celtic and Barcelona have been intertwined in modern European football terms, with Celtic getting The Catalan’s their last two Champions League campaigns. There was also that famous night at Celtic park back in 2012 where we were again paired with Messi and Co.
No offence to Messi and Co but if it was up to most, I think we’d want a fresher team at Celtic Park.
I know as some uppity fan reads this, they’ll give it ‘Look at Celtic fans, turning their noses up at Barca’ – Not at all.
Don’t get me wrong, Â if the dice fall where they do today, and Barcelona is the destination then Celtic fans will be up for it. It would be nice, however, to play a side who aren’t as familiar with the cauldron of Celtic Park as most of the Barcelona team are.
Most will agree though if there’s going to be at least one glamour tie – Â a Real Madrid or Monaco come to mind, something a bit different from the usual when we reach Europe’s premier competition.
What a problem to have though for the Celtic support – There were a few years we weren’t at the table – now that’s progres!
