JACK HENDRY looks likely to start tonight in the Red Bull Arena for Celtic.

The defender has been getting more game time than he probably thought he would at this stage with injuries to key defenders giving him a chance in the first team.

Both Benkovic and Ajer being out presents a big problem for Celtic and with Jozo still coming back to full fitness, it’s up to the young Scottish international to take his chance.

So far, the defender has looked out of sorts for the most part in the Celtic backline with Brendan Rodgers admitting a couple of weeks back that Jack is struggling with the step up from Dundee to Celtic.

The Irishman believes he can grow but some of the Celtic fans who have been watching him have been critical of the player so far.

With Celtic battling four fronts, they need everyone to be on their game and Jack must do his best to match the level expected of him.

Asked about his critics, the defender said he was taking it all in his stride.

“When you have critics you must deal with it, and you have to take it on the chin.

“Sometimes you will get criticised, other times you will get plaudits. People are entitled to say their bit, but you must deal with it in the right way.

“I just try to stay away from social media, I have other hobbies like movies, music and golf — more important things to do. I also look at my game because there is no harsher critic than myself.”

Hendry was part of the side which beat Aberdeen at the weekend and he will want to build on that performance and kick on.

Salzburg will be a very good test for him.
