Celtic are stepping up their efforts to re-jig their backline in time for vital Champions league qualifiers. Jason Denayer has left the club after his season long loan and Ronny Deila is bracing himself for bids for Virgil van Dijk. However Deila has made it very clear if van Dijk is to leave before August 31st it wont be before the qualifiers.

With Denayer back at City after a very successful loan spell Celtic are now looking at young polish defender, Rafal Janicki to replace the Belgian.

The 22-year-old who plays for Lechia Gdansk has one more year left on his current deal and is reportedly keen to move on to a new club this summer.

The defender while strong is very mobile and could be just what Celtic are looking for. It’s believed a fee in the region of £800,000 to £1million would be enough to pry him away from Lechia.

With not much time to prepare it’s of the upmost importance Celtic get a solid pairing at the back as quick as possible.
