There has been so much noise surrounding the permanent transfer of Odsonne Edouard it’s hard to know fact from fiction.

After speaking with Brendan Rodgers back in April, the Irishman scoffed when a journalist asked if the striker’s buy-out clause was £7million. Many took the wry smile by the Celtic boss as a hint the clause was smaller; In fact it has turned out to be the opposite.

Evening Times journalist Alison McConnell has been close to this deal for some time and is confident of our numbers.

Today the journalist happily fielded questions about the current state of play and went as far to say Rodgers tried to break Celtic’s transfer record last season also.

If this is accurate, it displays a tremendous amount of trust in not only Odsonne but the Celtic manager.

There will be a lot of happy faces if Edouard does sign on the dotted line, which we expect him to and if he does sign for that amount of cash does he jump the line in front of both Dembele and Griffiths as first choice striker?

  1. can’t see us taken a young unproven striker that has been in trouble with the law on loan with with a buyout clause of £10m

  2. Mmmmmmmm, has the whole Celtic board had a stroke, or a stroke of ingenutity. Are they going to bankroll St Brendan to build at good European team. Like they did for MON.

We’ ll wait a few years for that. I think.
