A lot of you may not know Amir Rrahmani but the Napoli player suggested to SunSport this week, he had an offer to move to Celtic back in January.

Playing for Hellas Verona at the time, Amir said he was in demand but when Napoli came calling he decided he would stay in Italy.

In the end, the Serie A giants shelled out over £12m for the centre-back but loaned him straight back to Verona for the second half of last season. [TransferMarkt]

He joined up with Napoli in the summer but due to the pandemic, Amir hasn’t had a look in with other defenders not moving on in the summer like expected.

The player is now sitting on the sidelines, hoping to catch a break.

Had he signed for Celtic, he would probably be a first team player by now. Especially, if Celtic were willing to pay anywhere near the amount Napoli put up.

“Napoli have invested a lot in me.” Amir told SunSport.

“I had offers from Celtic and Standard Liege but in the end I chose to sign for Napoli.

“This is the most important step of my career.

“They had a strategy to sell Koulibaly but the coronavirus changed the scenario.

“I’ve been told that I’m still an important member of the squad and that my time will come soon.”
