Italian side, AC Milan are reportedly set to pursue other options in their chase for a central defender after weeks of interest in Celtic’s Kristoffer Ajer.
According to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph, Milan have made an enquiry to German side RB Leipzig for defender Nordi Mukiele, whilst also continuing talks with Schalke for Matija Nastasic. Milan have been quoted £18m for Mukiele which could see the centre-back make the move to Italy and Kristoffer Ajer stay put – which would be great news.

Celtic's Kristoffer Ajer appears to be further down the pecking order now.

The 22-year old has been linked with a move away after it was reported that his representatives had asked Celtic, what fee it would take to allow the 6ft 5 defender to leave the club.
This attracted interest from AC Milan, who have had meetings with Ajer’s agent in order to try and make a deal happen.
Currently, it appears the Rossoneri do not have enough funds to make the move possible and were considering an offer of a loan with the obligation to buy next season, which it thought to be an offer that the Celtic board would not take.
As we edge closer to the transfer window shutting, it seems to be getting more likely that we will see Ajer in the green and white hoops, until at least January.
