CELTIC have had only one fit striker for the past few games with Leigh Griffiths trying to make his return and Vakoun Bayo suffering a setback which could see him go under the knife.

While Celtic were sitting with no backup striker on the bench during a semi-final at Hampden – one of their youth products was scoring yet again for his loan club.

Jack Aitchison made the loan move to Forest Green this summer in the hope of getting more competitive matches to develop his game. The frontman has scored three goals and made two assists since making the move. Two of those goals coming in the past two games, the youngster seems to be finding his feet now leading Cheshire Live to describe the player as ‘Immesnley talented’ and a ‘revelation’.

Could Jack be someone who comes back in at the end of the season and really push on into pre-season next term?

Anyone discrediting the League two loan should remember Callum McGregor was once on loan in the lower leagues of England and excelled while he was there – helping him become the player he is today.

Speaking to SunSport last week – the player made an excellent point about how some view him. He became Celtic’s youngest ever goalscorer at 16 under Ronny Deila and because he has been in the periphery of the Celtic support some think he’s disappeared.

Speaking about the loan move to the League Two side, he took an educated gamble on the team.

“A day or two before the window shut I saw some clips about Forest Green and how they played suited my style.

“Not too many teams in League Two play football but this team tries.

“I was intrigued, got speaking and thought I’d try it.

“People forget I’m still only 19. You see some comments saying ‘he’s nowhere to be seen now’.

“Some people think I’m 23 or 24. I’m lucky enough to have had a couple of first-team appearances at Celtic. It’s all about patience now.

“I always believe in myself even though some people don’t. Hopefully this loan period can help me out. What Callum did intrigued me. Celtic told me he had gone down on loan then came back and got his chance.

“Ryan Christie went away to Aberdeen too. He did really well there then came back and got his opportunity.

“I know they were a bit older than me. Hopefully I can come back and get involved with the first team like they have.

“I’ve got this season and next left on my contract at Celtic. I know Celtic have watched me in some games.”
