CELTIC have plenty of young players out on loan at the moment – one of the lesser-known talents at the club who is currently out on loan at Ayr is Ross Doohan.

The goalkeeper has come through the ranks at Celtic and played for the club at under 17 and under 20 levels before playing for the developmental squad. The odds of the lad making it at Celtic are against him with Celtic not having a goalkeeper come through the ranks to the first team since David Marshall back in the 00s. Even then, that took Robert Douglas landing a red card against Barcelona.

However, the lad has done himself no harm in Croatia on Tuesday night as the Scotland under-21 side beat their Croatian counterparts 2-1 in a Euro qualifier.

After two games the national team have six points from six in their group and things are looking rosy for Scott Gemmill and his men.

Doohan played the full game and helped the team to another victory.

Ross has spent time out on loan at Morton on more than one occasion and this is his second spell at Ayr.

  1. When Doohan resigned for Ayr I noticed the Ayr fans’ comments on Twitter saying how genuinely delighted they were – that’s a pretty good sign… Allan McGregor was also 24 before he made the breakthrough at Rangers… the lad certainly looks he has a decent career ahead of him anyway
