ERIK SVIATCHENKO has not ruled out a return to Celtic in the summer to fight for his place in the team after the Dane revealed Brendan Rodgers has been in touch since his loan move back home.

Erik re-signed for his former club FC Midjytland on a loan basis in January after Celtic brought Marvin Compper to the club.

The player told CeltsAreHere that he and the manager had spoken and Erik was desperate to play football in order not to stifle his development – the manager agreed and sanctioned the loan move.

The defender has been enjoying his time at his old club as they sit in second place in the league – only off the top by goal difference.

Erik is being pragmatic about his next move in the game but is open to all scenarios.

“I think I need to play now to keep developing and improving. I am positive but I am also realistic and I know that it comes down to what the manager thinks and he is very honest. I spoke to him last month. Brendan called me to see if we had settled in here and I thought that was a very nice gesture. He was pleased that I was in the team and playing games and we will see what happens now over the next four months.”
