Former Celtic youth product Ross Wallace has returned to Scottish football fourteen years after leaving Celtic for Sunderland.

Wallace, 34, has signed a short term deal with St Mirren for the rest of this season BBC have confirmed.

Wallace made 28 appearances for Celtic when he made the breakthrough from the reserves but never became a fully fledged member of the first team.

The full back turned winger carved out a fantastic career for himself down south with memorable stunts at Sheffield Wednesday and Burnley. He’s also played for Preston and Fleetwood.

The player has been without a club since leaving Fleetwood and has returned to Scotland to continue his career.

St Mirren hope his experience can help them see out the last part of the season.

Wallace isn’t the only former Celt to return to Scottish football this month with Tony Watt signing for Motherwell.
