ODSONNE EDOUARD has told Celtic fans advice from Edison Cavani has helped shape his career to date and is one of the reasons he’s playing for the club right now.

The striker attributes Cavani’s influence with helping him move to the next level which has taken him to Celtic.

Edouard spent last season on loan to the Scottish Champions with many seeing him as back up for Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths but as the season wore on and Edouard got his chance it became apparent the French striker had something to offer.

His goal at Ibrox was clinical and helped Celtic towards another league title.

Edouard remains humble, even with the price tag as Celtic’s most expensive signing hanging over his head.

Speaking about his origin, Edouard was sure Cavani helped him on his way.

“When I was at PSG, Edinson Cavani gave me advice every day. Whether it was about my positional sense, my finishing, even my speed, he spoke to me a lot.

“This gave me a massive amount of belief in myself that a great striker like him took time out to speak to me.

“I decided to leave and give new impetus to my career.

“So I chose Celtic because they are a big club who always play in Europe. I had a good chat with the manager.

“He told me about his projects and ambitions and spoke about what he wanted to do with me.

“I appreciated his words and it just felt like a good feeling with him. I immediately decided there and then I would sign.”

Since signing for Celtic, Edouard has matured and is becoming a more all-around player.

In October, the striker was Celtic’s only fit option in front of goal and he helped deliver some top results.

The Frenchman never looks under pressure and his calm and composed attitude is what’s probably got him his move to Celtic in the first place.
