STUART ARMSTRONG moved on from Celtic in the summer in a move which cost the English Club £7million.

With that £7million, money was due to Dundee Utd but there was also money due to the club Armstrong trained with as a boy due to FIFA regulations.

Dyce Boys Club from Aberdeen District Juvenile Football Association could not believe their luck when they realised just how much they were due from the deal.

Speaking to the BBC, Dyce Boy’s Club treasurer Len Nicol said: “We are in a state of shock. We never dreamt how much it would be.

“We heard news of the transfer just before it was announced and we knew that there would be a payment, but I nearly dropped the phone when I heard how much it was.

While the actual fee has not been divulged, it’s believed the Amateur club who rely on volunteers have received a six-figure sum.

This is astonishing for a club who would not dream of landing such riches.

Speaking about the windfall, Southampton’s Stuart Armstrong is proud his fee has gone to the club and will help sustain them for years to come.

“I owe a lot to the coaches and volunteers at Dyce Boys Club. I joined the club when I was 13 years old and spent five happy years there.” Armstrong told the BBC.

“I’m really proud that the move to Southampton has triggered a payment to the club as it was a great place for me to learn and enjoy my football while I was growing up,”

Stuart is now plying his trade in the English Premier League after making the switch this summer.

The player left Celtic a double treble champion and with everyone’s best wishes.

  1. If he loved it that much, he could have stuck his hand in his pocket to help them out. Other guys in our club go out of there way to support local football teams, Armstrong only interested in himself.
