LEIGH GRIFFITHS has revealed the club and his representatives are locked in talks over a new deal, even though there is still a long way to go on his current deal.

Leigh joined Celtic in 2014 and is contracted to the club until 2021 but Rodgers is ready to show tremendous faith in his striker by handing him a massive deal that would see Leigh get into the range of a Celtic testimonial.

Speaking about the deal, Leigh is in no doubt where his future lies.

“I see my best years at Celtic. I’d like to get to 100 goals. If I don’t get there next season I may as well quit football!

“The new contract will be a weight off my mind. I’ve got two and a bit years on my current deal, but the fact they are even talking about a new contract gives me joy and delight that I am going to be here for, basically, the rest of my career.

“When it does get done and signed I will be delighted.”

Rodgers has been working hard to tie up all the players he believes are absolutely vital to the club going forward. Leigh should take a lot of heart from how the manager perceives him and with Edouard’s inclusion, he is not forgotten about.
