It was a few months back when Aiden McGeady said his dream would be to finish his career at Celtic.

This was met by some less than generous Celtic fans on social media telling him ‘No Chance’.

Aiden did very well for the club and moved on for big money to Spartak back in the day. Landing in England thereafter the midfielder has found the going tough.

However, the midfielder has been given a new lease of life under former St Mirren boss Jack Ross who took the Sunderland job this summer.

Sunderland are sitting in second place in League one, 4 points behind Portsmouth and looking to get promoted back to the Championship.

Aiden McGeady has been asked to play a new role within the team and is now flourishing.

In 13 games this season so far the former Celtic man has scored five and assisted in four as the Black Cats look to make their mark.

Speaking about his player, Ross said the defensive side of Aiden’s game has improved greatly.

“He is working really hard out of possession and then when he gets the ball he has the ability to create something out of nothing. he told the club website.

“He did that time after time.”

  1. Aiden was great for Celtic when he played. But did dissapear for long lulls in the game if no one passed the baw to him
He wasn’t lazy, as thats why Strapon used to play him, but dug his fellow team mates out with his weaving runs and wingplay. And of course goals. Aiden your welcome back. But where would he play.
