Odsonne Edouard is on course to be Celtic’s player of the year. The Frenchman has been irresistible this season, if he hasn’t been scoring, the player has been setting up his teammates.

Eddy has still over two years to run on his current Celtic deal but the way modern transfers work, you want to stop the possibility of any top player heading into the final year of their contract by tying them up well before that.

So far, we’ve not had much information about the possibility of Celtic signing the striker to a new deal. However, Football Insider are claiming a ‘Celtic source’ has told them the Frenchman has been coy over a new deal and just like his on the field demeanour, he’s cool about the whole thing.

The website writes: A Celtic source has told Football Insider that the French striker’s camp have been reluctant to enter into “serious” negotiations over an extension to his current agreement, which expires in 2022.

Whether their source is up to scratch is another thing entirely.

Edouard has spoken about how much he loves playing for Celtic but we all know there’ll be a time, not so long from now where he will head off to more lucrative things. But we don’t want to see that happen until we’ve bagged the ten!
