We’ve heard the same rhetoric for years now since they have been down and out but today we heard from Ibrox cheerleader Graeme Souness tell us it would be great for Scottish football if The Rangers were to win on Sunday…

Would it, aye?

I beg to differ – Celtic are still very much in pole position to take the league title even if they did lose at Ibrox on Sunday.

All it would probably do is solidify the Ibrox sides claim to the number two spot, rendering the battle between them, Aberdeen and Hibs rather dull in the final stages.

A win for Celtic will hasten their impending title victory and give a shot in the arm to Derek McInnes and Neil Lennon’s side as they chase down the Ibrox men. Making the games between Hibs/Aberdeen/Rangers particularly pulsating for their place in Europe after the split.

Sounds exciting, I wonder if Graeme Souness will vote for that.

Of course, if there was a legitimate title challenge to be had then we’d discuss it – but it all seems like forced chat in some sort of misguided bid to make The Rangers seem better than they are. I didn’t see the same clamour when Aberdeen were trying to chase Ronny’s team down.
