Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has provided a key update regarding the availability of some players for Sunday’s league cup tie with Falkirk.
The Hoops welcome the Bairns to Parkhead following their 5-1 trouncing of Slovan Bratislava in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
It was a history-making night for the Bhoys, who were on it from start to finish.
Liam Scales, Kyogo Furuhashi, Arne Engels, Daizen Maeda, and Adam Idah all scored in the dominant victory.
Celtic will be looking to carry their recent form back onto the domestic scene as the Scottish Championship league leaders visit Glasgow’s east end.
Ahead of the match, key duo Alistair Johnston and Cameron Carter-Vickers missed training today, and boss Rodgers has now provided an update on his squad’s fitness.
“We’ve got a few players with niggles so we will have a look at that and assess that by end of play tomorrow,” he said (Glasgow Times).
“We won’t take any risks with one or two.
“It was the second day of recovery as well so there was a group of the players out recovering and a group training hard and then one or two inside just making extra recovery inside rather than out.”
Although Falkirk are playing well at the minute, Rodgers can afford to make a few changes to the team on Sunday.
Fans are excited to see Alex Valle and Auston Trusty fully in action, as their minutes have been limited at Celtic so far.
Other players who didn’t significantly feature midweek such as Luke McCowan, Paulo Bernardo, and Anthony Ralston could also come into the fray.
Kick-off this Sunday is at 3pm as the Celts look to secure their first trip of the season to Hampden.
