CHRIS SUTTON hailed Stephen Welsh scoring Celtic’s first goal of the season from a corner is a ‘good sign’ on a day where Celtic ran out 2-0 winners.

The former Celtic striker praised the early goal from the Celtic academy bhoy because it’s something the Hoops aren’t really known for.

The bhoys get the majority of their goals from open play, getting goals from corners is something we should be looking to improve on and we’ve started well on Sunday.

Welsh’s early goal set the Champions on their way but it would take until the latter stages of the second half for the Hoops to make sure of the three points when a wonder strike from Jota. The Portuguese star has picked up where he left off last season with some outstanding moments during the game.

Welsh wouldn’t have been in the starting XI on Sunday afternoon had Carl Starfelt been available. However, the Scottish under 21 international made the most of the opportunity he was given. A goal and an all around solid display will certainly boost his confidence going into the Ross County game next weekend.
