With the defender back in town and getting set to say a proper goodbye to the Celtic Support, many fans have raised the question why Erik Sviatchenko was even sold in the first place.

Erik has come to Glasgow for the holidays and it’s a place very much in his heart.

His time at Celtic came to an abrupt end back in January last year when he was loaned back to his homeland. Erik can split opinion with fans both backing and questioning why the player was sold.

However, the fans are less split over the idea of the Dane being pushed out and Marvin Compper along with Jack Hendry stepping in.

For people who think Erik wasn’t up to the task, it’s hard to argue his replacements were even on his level, wherever they may set Erik’s standard.

It’s well documented Erik was happy at Celtic and didn’t want to leave the club. At the time, when he did go, the promise of two defender’s was enough to keep even Erik’s supporters happy, but many fans believe if it’s a straight choice between Sviatchenko and Hendry/Compper – it’s a no contest.
