Unfortunately the front page of all Irish newspapers this morning are in relation to the shocking news that Ex-Celtic and Man United player Liam Miller is battling cancer. Miller who was capped 21 times for his country will be on the minds of all Irish players and fans as they look to secure a World Cup place.
Football will always take a back seat to news like this but the reality is his fight will be on the minds of all the Irish today and tomorrow.
It was current Ireland manager Martin O Neill who gave Miller his break into the Celtic first team. He quickly recognised the talent he had on his hands and tried to tie him into a contract but Alex Ferguson had already seen enough of Miller to want him at Manchester United. Liam also had spells at Leeds, Sunderland, QPR, Hibernian, Cork City and in Australia.
Roy Keane also has a huge connection with Liam Miller, his fellow Cork man signed him from Manchester United and brought him to Sunderland where he spent nearly 3 years. They both lined out for Ireland together.
A lot of his old teammates are dealing with the shock news this morning and have taken to social media to show their support.
