Celtic’s trip to the Highlands at the weekend proved to be a cathartic experience for everyone involved with Celtic.

The defeat to Hamilton before the International break still fresh in the memory as Celtic took on Ross County. The manager wanted a response from his team and bhoy did he get one! Celtic scoring 4 goals in a first half blitz that could easily have been more. Guidetti leading the line with Johansen pulling all the strings from the centre of the park. With 14 minutes on the clock Celtic were already 2 goals to the good and you could feel the pressure lifting.

In the second half Celtic weren’t as imposing as they were before the break but they still showed imagination and tenacity as they attacked a wounded County team. Stokes scoring another to make it 5 on the day.

The exclusion of Efe Ambrose to allow Mikael Lustig to return from injury had a positive impact and the Swede showed us what we’d been missing this season.

While we shouldn’t get carried away, this is indeed a step in the right direction. We now need to prove we can play like that more consistently. We have built a little momentum now but so far under Ronny, when we start to build momentum we get stopped in our tracks. It’s up to the players to show they can deliver week in, week out.

It’s the Europa League up next for Ronny and he’ll be hoping the players can rise to the occasion.
