There is a lot of things that did not go Celtic’s way this season and one of those things was internationals. They rarely provide any positives to clubs and only serve up injuries and fatigue, but sometimes players can gain from been involved in an international setup.

That wasn’t the case for a few Celts last night. Let’s start with the Norwegians. Technically it was a home game for Ajer and Elyounoussi who both got starts but the game was in Malaga due to coronavirus restrictions in Oslo.

Ajer had a nightmare for the first goal as his headed clearance looked more like an assist for the Turks to go one up and eventually run out 0-3 winners. Mohamed Elyounoussi got subbed just after 65 minutes.

Shane Duffy had to watch from the bench once again for Ireland as they endured one of their most embarrassing results in history. The Irish went down 1-0 at home to Luxembourg for a second straight defeat in their group.

Duffy could do with a bit of an escape from the goings-on at Celtic this season but the result in Dublin last night created a frying pan into the fire scenario for the Derry man.

Albian Ajeti was left out of the Swiss squad but Scotland will play Israel later on today while Edouard should start for the French Under 21s against Russia.  Let’s hope they have a better time of it.
