AARON MOOY has announced his retirement from football with immediate effect. The Celtic midfielder had been mulling over the decision for some time and has now decided to hang up his boots. [Celtic FC]
Mooy signed for Ange and Celtic at the start of last season and it took him a while to get into the swing of things.
However, after he returned from playing at the World Cup, the Australian was pivotal in Celtic’s success, helping the bhoys to a treble.
Mooy managed to dislodge Matt O’Riley for a good portion of the season and proved his worth then it mattered.
The Australian had signed a two-year deal with the club, but decided to bow out as a treble winner. It’s not a bad way to end your career.

Aaron played a crucial role in our recent record-breaking Treble & we wish him the best for the future 🍀
Thank you, @AaronMooy 💚
There were reports that Aaron was thinking about his future in the game this summer. With Ange’s exit from Celtic, many felt Mooy could potentially leave the club. There was a feeling Aaron was their for Ange and now he’s at Spurs, it was the right jumping off point.
We want to thank Aaron Mooy for his contributions to the club. And although he played for just a season, it was a very memorable campaign.
