With the transfer window closing on Monday night, Celtic are juggling potential incomings and outgoings – and one surprise name has emerged on the exit list. Reports from journalist Alan Nixon claim Swansea City are considering a move for Adam Idah before the deadline.

On the surface, the deal looks unlikely due to the current lack of proven strikers. He was supposed to be the man to lead the line, offering power and presence up top. Instead, his form has dipped badly, with supporters questioning whether the club have a reliable number nine to spearhead the attack.

Celtic currently have numbers in the forward department, but the lack of a natural leader among the strikers is obvious. Kyogo has been gone for 8 months and has still not been replaced.

If Swansea’s interest is serious, Celtic would only entertain discussions if Brendan Rodgers could secure another striker before the window slams shut. With Balikwisha and Saracchi expected to be announced imminently, further work is being done behind the scenes to strengthen them. Moving Idah on without a proper replacement would leave Celtic dangerously short of firepower and is a non-starter.

For now, it feels more like Swansea is testing the waters rather than a concrete transfer in the making. But the mere suggestion highlights the uncertainty surrounding Idah’s role. Celtic cannot afford to go into the second half of the season without a reliable focal point.

If the Irishman does depart, it would be a major admission from the club that their summer gamble has backfired. The next few days will tell whether this story has legs or if it remains just another late-window rumour.

    • When you get there, switch places and let him bring your car back. Enjoy Swansea. You’re clearly looking for a new team to follow anyway.

  1. The Celtic Board have an entitlement attitude which does not belong at OUR club. Dermot Desmond has the same entitlement attitude, despite not having a majority of shares. OUR club would be much better off without Lawwell, Desmond and the completely inept Nicholson.

    • You have to be the dumbest person to ever make a comment on here!
Our club is what we are BECAUSE OF THESE MEN!
I bet your mammy wishes you’d gone to school!

      • Are you being flippant? You’re right our club is where we are with these people! An absolute shambles! Gambled 40mill and lost! Turgid football, only winning league as sevco are terrible? And you’re saying someone else is dumb? There’s going to be mutiny now due to your pals on board! What planet you on??

      • Joe shut up are you hanging out the back of Idah is garage he scored a winner in a scf that’s it. Done nothing since . You got posters of him on your bedroom wall.by the sounds of you you don’t actually go to games. Because if you did youd see how bad he is. Even the other night he was stuck in mud when a good striker would be ontop of the keeper. As for these guys they are making millions of bonuses in the boardroom.they only run it.it is our club. Maybe yet auld dear should’ve sent you to school so you could understand things Idah I’d drive him down aswell he’s garbage wake up lil guy he’s no Celtic class

  2. As much as seeing Idah go would be pleasing it was fan pressure that brought him to the club.
Fans need to remember without Lawwell we could have ended up like the zombies. He was the driver behind Celtic being the best run club in the country. However Michael Nicholson has to be held responsible as CEO for the failure in europe and the transfer fiasco

  3. Let him take the car to Swansea, and take Engels with him. If there is room in the Boot, take Yang as Well.

  4. If Celtic can retrieve the £9M they paid for him then they should bite Swansea’s hands off!! Rodgers could probably get Vardy in until the January Window and give us some time to look for more options.
