Celtic announced the signing of striker Adam Idah late on Thursday evening. The Ireland internationalist joined the Hoops on loan until the end of the season with no option to buy.

It was a move that came about rather quickly, with news of it initially surfacing on Tuesday night. The 22-year-old was then announced as a new Hoops player 48 hours later after a deal was reached with English Championship side Norwich City.

At Celtic, Idah has taken the number nine jersey and he will immediately be in the squad for Saturday’s match away to Aberdeen. He joins the club as one of only two fit and available strikers, so there is a good chance he could make his debut at Pittodrie tomorrow.

The Irishman is greatly eager to do so and when speaking as a Celtic player for the first time, Idah revealed that his fellow countrymen Mikey Johnston and Liam Scales both played a big part in his move to the club: “I’ve spoken to both”, he said (Celtic FC on YouTube).

“They played a big part, they spoke massively about the club, how great this club is, and the fans, the city, so they helped me make my mind up as well.”

It seems as though Scales and Johnston have taken the role of Celtic agents in this transfer. The pair play with Idah at international level and even though Johnston departed the club for West Bromwich Albion on deadline day, he still helped convince Idah to come to Glasgow.
