CELTIC have been linked to attacking midfielder Mohamed ‘Afsha’ Magdy for a couple of days, with previous links resurfacing. His representatives have confirmed Celtic’s interest along with two other clubs.
A midfielder wasn’t thought to be high on the Parkhead club’s priority list this January, but it seems like the Hoops are making moves in the market.
The Al Ahly manager was adamant that his player wasn’t for sale this January. However, his board have ignored this, slapping a £4 million valuation on the player. If Ange Postecoglou does secure his services, they’ll need to fork out the fee before Turkish clubs Besiktas and Galatasaray make an approach. [Daily Record]
It’ll be interesting to see where the club go with this transfer, especially with the middle of the pitch arguably the Hoops’ strongest area. Competition for places is high, and to bring another midfielder to the club just now doesn’t make sense unless the club know something we don’t.
