ALBIAN AJETI has done well since coming into the club from West Ham this summer if the player isn’t scoring he’s making the space for others in his team. The perfect example of what Albian can do if he isn’t scoring came against Lille away in the Europa League, the striker’s presence and ability to hold the ball up for his team-mates gives us a different dimension.

He didn’t score in the Motherwell game but was pivotal in the first goal which set Celtic on their way to a 4-1 win.

Talking about the last few months to the Celtic View, the Swiss frontman did not shirk from the bad results which have come Celtic’s way.

“We had some tough games within a very short period of time and it didn’t help that we had some players missing,” said Ajeti.

“There were a lot of factors at play but we’ve overcome that and I’m happy everyone is back in training. We made a good start against Motherwell last weekend so we’ll try to build on that now and win games with good performances.

Albian knows it’s tough to get going after an international break but knows the team need to push on when they all return this week. Hibernian will be right up for the fight and Easter Road is one of toughest fixtures for Celtic in the Scottish calendar.

“The first game back after the internationals is never easy. A club as big as Celtic has many players away playing for different countries so we need a couple of days training together to prepare for the next game. I’m looking forward to these games. We have the quality to perform well and get the results.”

“I prefer the pressure of needing to win every game rather than the pressure of fighting to avoid relegation or something like that,” he said. “I enjoy this pressure and expectation from everyone around the club to win every game.”

There are no guarantees Albian will start against Hibernian at the weekend. Neil Lennon might fancy bringing Odsonne Edouard back into the fold with the striker riding high after his exploits with the France under 21 squad.

The striker surpassed Moussa Dembele as the top scorer for the young France side, scoring 15 goals in just 10 games.

It’s great the manager has options when it comes to what striker to play. It will be a big all by Lennon but at least he knows whoever he picks, there will be some great options coming from the bench.
