During the week, major French publication L’Equipe linked Celtic with a move for Caen striker Alexandre Mendy.

The report claimed Celtic had slapped in a £2m bud for the 16-goal striker but that had been rebuffed by the Lihue 2 side.

However, award winning Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph has revealed there has been no contact between Celtic and Caen over a deal for the player at this point.

Celtic have Kyogo, Giakoumakis and Maeda who can all play up front for the Hoops at the moment. As Anthony says, another striker isn’t the priority but if the club can get rid of Albian Ajeti off the wage bill, it could free up Celtic to look for another striker, maybe even on loan at first.

Transfer rumours are beginning to come thick and fast. Not everything we see and read will come to fruition. Deals can be done quickly and transfers can fall away just as fast.

Right now, Celtic fans aren’t interested in who’s coming in this summer. It’s all about there here and now and it’s all about the run in for the title race.
