Since arriving in Glasgow last summer, Alexandro Bernabei hasn’t had the best time off the park. The Argentinian was recently fined after pleading guilty to drink driving and was even dropped on Flag Day after sleeping in.
In the hearing of his court case in which he was fined £1,875, Bernabei’s Celtic wages were revealed. As of his lawyer, Calum Ross, the 22-year-old earns around £5,000 per week. He said (The Scottish Sun): “His financial circumstances state with his employment, he earns approximately £20,000 per month.”

In all likelihood, Bernabei won’t be one of the highest earners at Celtic. One imagines players such as Callum McGregor and Kyogo Furuhashi will be on much more money than the Argentinian. This will also be a basic salary with bonuses and addons not factored in, such as appearance fees.
In spite of this, Bernabei is in a hugely prosperous financial situation, which shows the sheer amount of money involved in football nowadays. A player who is only on the fringes of the Hoops’ first team is getting amounts of money the majority of the population can only dream of.
It does underscore the lack of reliability regarding sites claiming what Celtic players are on. Salaray Sports, for instance, has Bernabei sitting on 11kpw. Which now we know is bogus.
