Alexandro Bernabei has officially said goodbye to Celtic and their supporters, sharing an emotional message on Instagram as he embarks on a new chapter with Internacional in Brazil.

The Argentine left-back, who made history as the first from his country to sign for Celtic, struggled to secure a consistent starting position during his time in Glasgow. Brought in under Ange Postecoglou, Bernabei found opportunities limited, and his fortunes didn’t improve significantly following Brendan Rodgers’ return to the club.

In the final six months of 2024, Bernabei was loaned out to Internacional, where his performances were nothing short of outstanding. His impressive displays prompted the Brazilian side to secure his services on a permanent deal, reportedly for a fee of around £5 million.

Bernabei’s Celtic Goodbye

Reflecting on his time at Celtic, Bernabei shared a heartfelt farewell message with fans, expressing his gratitude for the experience:

“I am proud to have been the first Argentine to join this beautiful club. I want to thank the entire coaching staff and all the people at the club for the beautiful year and a half I spent at @celtic. Thanks to the Celtic fans for the support they have given me during my stay. It was a pleasure to be part of this great club and experience unforgettable moments at the Celtic Park stadium. I will always carry Celtic in my heart. Thanks for everything.” Via Instagram

A New Beginning in Brazil

Bernabei’s move to Internacional marks a fresh start, with the defender now aiming to build on the success he found during his loan spell. The Brazilian club has high hopes for the versatile left-back, who quickly became a fan favourite during his brief time there.

Best of luck, Alexandro!
