Alistair Johnston is edging closer to a Celtic return, but before the battle resumes, the Canadian international has taken a rare chance to catch his breath.
The Hoops right-back has been out since picking up an early-season knock, a setback that paused what had been a relentless stretch of football for both club and country.
Since joining Celtic from CF Montréal in late 2022, Johnston has barely had a moment’s rest. He moved straight from the World Cup into the Premiership title race, then into international duty across continents.
This break, even if unplanned, might be exactly what his body needed. Johnston is known for his tireless energy and fierce work ethic, the kind of player who throws himself into every tackle and every minute on the pitch.
But even the hardest-working players need a pause sometimes. After so much travel, intensity, and competition, some downtime was overdue.
The defender is expected to be back in contention within the next four weeks, maybe even sooner, as Brendan Rodgers gears up for a demanding run that includes meetings with Hearts and Rangers.

In the meantime, Johnston seems to be making the most of his recovery. The 27-year-old shared photos on social media from a trip to the Isle of Arran, where he enjoyed some golf, coastal walks, and a few scenic food stops with his dog and, it seems, his partner.
The images showed a more relaxed side of the Celtic star, far from the noise of Parkhead and the pressure of international fixtures.
Supporters will be glad to see him taking time to recharge, both physically and mentally, because once he’s back, there won’t be much room for rest.
With Celtic competing on multiple fronts, Johnston’s return will be a big boost.
His mix of defensive strength and attacking drive has been missed, and as he closes in on his comeback, fans can take comfort knowing he’ll return refreshed, refocused, and ready to go again.

This may be great news for “Celtic fans”! The problem we have right now though is we don’t have as many REAL FANS as we thought we had, DO WE?
We have a bunch of wee lassies and laddies who think they know better than the highly educated people who are responsible for making our club super successful! So successful in fact, that we have now quashed the bogus claim from the two clubs added together from Govan, that they were the “worlds most successful club” which we knew was nonsense anyway! But we are the most successful club Scotland has ever seen, even when you do allow the two Govan clubs, past and present, to add their haul, legal and corrupt!
But either way, our current board are a tiny bit smarter than these wee lassies and laddies!
Time to pull on the big people pants and act like grown up adults! Get behind this team and club, BEFORE HEARTS COME ALONG AND EMBARRASS US.
